Event Description: This is a French Web Campaign. "Réapproprie-toi la technologie!" est une campagne Internet francophone. Il s'agit de s'emparer des TIC pour contrer la violence à l'égard des filles et des femmes. Plusieurs actions simples sont proposées. On peut aussi bloguer, discuter, voir des vidéos, écouter la radio, s'informer sur la violence faite aux filles et aux femmes, et apprendre des trucs technos afin d'augmenter la sécurité et la confidentialité sur Internet.

Event Description: From November 25 to December 10th, the Women's International Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) will highlight the 16 days of activism against gender violence with a second Annual Internet campaign. This year, the theme of the broadcast will be: Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence against Women. The campaign will be broadcasted at www.amarc.org/16days. Community radio producers from Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America and the Caribbean will dedicate these 16 days to highlight the effort of women and men working to put an end to gender violence. The programs featured will include documentaries, interviews, debates, poetry, music and much more. This multilingual broadcast campaign mobilizes community radios around a global issue and encourages them to use new communication technologies such as the Internet to extend the reach of their voices.

Event Description: Our campaign is not confined to 16 days which is why we are calling it the 16+ Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. We begin our activities with a Teach-In on the Epidemic of Violence Against Women in the Congo. The GWG 16 Days activities continue with a film series. From November 29 through December 18 eight films from seven different countries will be shown. In commemoration of World AIDS Day, the GWG, and other university organizations will sponsor a candle light vigil ceremony on December 1. On December 6, the GWG will sponsor a poster session at the Brandeis Women Studies Research Center. Students from the MA Program in Sustainable International Development will do brief presentations on and exhibit posters of the impressive work they have done on global gender issues. Finally on December 7 from 12-2pm, Dr. Gloria White-Hammond will speak about her work on peace advocacy, gender empowerment and inter-faith dialog. Dr. Hammond founded the organization, My Sister’s Keeper, with former news anchor, Liz Walker. My Sister’s Keeper has educational, health and economic projects for women in the Sudan.
