AUSTRIA

Description: Flag day “Live freely – without violence” on November 25th all over the country. Approximately 250 flags were hoisted all over the country. On December 10th, the Austrian Women’s Shelter Network invited the local press to a joint media event with the Austrian National Committee for UNIFEM to highlight the lack of women’s rights in Austria and across the world. Description: Conference on “Prevention of Aggression and Violence Against Girls and Young Women” for those who are involved in education, work with children and young people, or are responsible for introducing and financing prevention programs. Description: Exhibition: “Trata y derechos humanos” Photograph display in the public library showing problems about the trade of women and children around the world. At the opening of the exhibition a manifesto was read. Workshops: “Gender Violence and Human Rights” Secondary school I.E.S. Thader: After the visit to the exhibition students will choose a poster and will modify it with different techniques in art lessons. In literature they will create a story from the poster chosen. All works produced will be shown at the entrance of the secondary school IES Thader. Poems and novels from women writes will be studied in groups and performed in front of the rest of students. Primary school C.P.V de Monserrate. Torremendo: Make a large poster with hands and the different ways to use them for nice purposes, and showing those proposes denied. In the play ground exhibition of copies of the photographs and the explanation of them with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights written below the pictures, for the parents and rest of the inhabitants to watch; see attached information
