Reach out to your Representative to encourage her/him to pass the International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA) during this year's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. I-VAWA is groundbreaking legislation that would, for the first time, systematically integrate efforts to end gender-based violence into foreign assistance programs, applying the force of U.S. diplomacy and foreign aid to prevent the abuse and exploitation that affects up to one in three women worldwide. It was introduced in the House of Representatives this year, and the Senate in 2007. We expect it to be re-introduced in the 111th Congress.
