holdingHolding on to the Promise: Women's Human Rights and the Beijing +5 Review

In 1995, delegates from 189 countries met in Beijing to participate in the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women. Five years later, in June 2000, they met again in New York to assess progress towards ending discrimination against women. Holding on to the Promise, by the Center for Women's Global Leadership, takes a critical look at the Beijing +5 Review from the perspective of women's human rights. It examines current trends in human rights and women's international organizing, and provides insightful analysis on the gains and losses of this latest round of UN negotiations on women.
