Messages of concern received by the
Center for Women's Global Leadership
The following are a few of the messages the Center received expressing
concern and sorrow over the events of September 11th. The response from our
sisters outside the US has reminded us again that terrorism is a terrible
thing that women in many parts of the world have been experiencing since
long before these attacks and that we can learn from them in our current
situation.
**********
ALBANIA
We heard about the terrible tragedy happened in your country, caused by sick
minds and criminal people. This was a terrorism not only against your
country but against all the democratic world and civilisation. In this
tragedy we are with the people who are now suffering for having lost their
lovers and with the people who believe in justice, democracy and in life
without threats and injustices where the criminals must be judged and must
pay for what they have done. Please accept this message of support and
solidarity in the name of our organization.
**********
BULGARIA
I am really shocked with the news coming from the US. How are you, your
friends and families? Are you safe? Do you need our help? We in Bulgaria are
with you and very concern about everything happening now after this crazy,
unbelievable terrorism. All of us are sorry for the innocent people and we
feel that this horror should by all means never happen again anywhere in the
world. We are with you and would like to express our deep sorrow for the
tragedy.

COLOMBIA
Aprovecho para enviarle mi sentimiento de solidaridad y apoyo por la
tragedia que enluta a la nacion norteamericana y mi rechazo a tan criminal
atentado. No tenemos mas palabras para expresar nuestra tristeza.
**********
CROATIA
We wish to express our sadness and sorrow for the awful tragedy of the 11th
of September. We are carefully reading and watching the news and are greatly
concerned about the thousand innocent victims. We send our sympathy for your
pain. Even though we work ten years now with women war victims and are
witnesses of many horrible war events, still we are again surprised with the
modality and magnitude of this type of male violence. It hits our emotional
state and political visions. Seems that patriarchal violence has no end and
no bottom. We hope that our international sisterhood can support you to
transform the pain into action for change, and that non-violence and
non-revenge will be our political pathway to justice.

CUBA
With deep regret we would like to express our condolences for the
irreparable losses of human lives as a consequence of the surprising and
violent attacks against civil and official buildings in New York and
Washington. We, who have suffered many times during 42 years the
consequences of terrorists actions perpetrated from the United States
territory, we very well know about the sorrow and indignation these
frightening deaths. Our Government condemned immediately these events, and
offered Cuban airport facilities for aircraft in flight that might need
them, as well as our willingness of cooperating with the sanitation
authorities and with any medical or humanitarian institutions in the
attention, care and rehabilitation of the victims. We express our sincere
solidarity in this sad moment.

GLOBAL
Your sisters around the world stand in solidarity with you on this shocking
day. This horrendous act of terror is to be condemned, and I want you to
know that we wish you strength and courage and fortitude as you sort through
the aftermath of this tragedy. Our hearts are with you.

INDIA
We are truly appalled and upset by the gruesome tragedy caused by the
terrorist attacks on America and its people. It is an attack on all
humanity. In this testing time we grieve with all of you. We fervently hope
that all of your family, yourself and friends are safe. Once again, we are
all with you and considers this an attack on all peace loving humanity.
Please do take care.

NIGERIA
My sympathies and prayers over the events of 11 September, and my concerns
over what the world holds in store for all the people of the world in the
next few weeks and months. I hope all of you and your families are safe.
I also wish to add the frustration among human human rights activists of
finding the balance between the need for justice for victims and their
families, and the imperatives of fair trial, natural justice and human
rights as the USA and Allies respond to the terror attacks.

PERU

ocurrido en su pais, Nosotras condenamos toda accion terrorita, venga de

We are horrified and deeply sadden to watch the devastation unfold in New
York. We know that this terrible act of violence has changed your lives, and
ours, forever. We hope you are safe and we send you our thoughts and
prayers. Please know that we are with you now and are ready to do whatever
we can to support you through this difficult time and beyond.
